| Caplan was founded in 1812. Its name probably originates from capelin, a small fish of the salmon family found in large quantities in this region. Others say the origin of the name is from the English, cape land, because of the numerous cliffs present here. Caplan is well-known for its nice beach west of the village. The beach is very well set up with parking lot, restaurant and umbrellas. Come here and take a nice sunbath.
