The founding of Grande-Cascapedia took place in 1929. The economy is based on fishing.
Grande-Cascapedia is a great salmon fishing community. This has been one of its main activities for several years now. There are many salmon pools here and beyond the village. Notice the New England style architecture of the houses. A small municipal park with picnic tables is situated on Hwy 299.
From here you can continue north to Parc de la Gaspesie and Sainte-Anne-des-Monts. If you do, make sure you have enough gas because there is only one gas station a little bit south of the park.
