Description Pictures
It is here in 1767 that Charles Robin established the first permanent fishing post in the Gaspe. Thanks to him a cod fishing monopoly was established. It is the Micmac word Ipsigiag meaning "sandbar" that is at the origin of the name.

Paspébiac is well known for its famous Banc-de-Paspebiac, a 1.5-km triangular sandbar that reaches out into the Bay of Chaleur. A rest area, a promenade and hiking trails will highlight your visit.

You will also discover the powder magazine, a historical building built by Charles Robin in 1788 for protection against potential attacks by Americans.

Among other attractions, there is the church with its Casavant organ (sometimes recitals take place here), a historical site and the old Anglican chapel transformed into a library.
