Description Pictures
The name of this place was inspired by the cross planted here by the Micmacs to mark one of the limits of the reserve. The last battle of Ristigouche took place here on the 8th of July 1760.

Pointe-a-la-Croix has many interesting sights to visit:

  1. The belvedere on the mountain offers a superb panoramic view of the region including a part of the New Brunswick coast.
  2. The Young House where the tourist information centre has its quarters. This historical house is built entirely of wood assembled in dovetail joint. It dates back to the 19th century.
  3. Bordeaux House is probably the oldest house in the Gaspe. It was built at the end of the 18th century and owes its name to its first occupant Mary Barter who was born in Bordeaux, France. The interior has the looks of a real museum.
  4. There is a bird sanctuary situated near Pointe-a-Bordeaux.
An interpretation centre relating the events of the last battle of Ristigouche can also be visited.
