Mont-St-Pierre is located in a glaciary valley. The steep mountain of the same name, with a 411-meter altitude, is a perfect spot for outdoor enthusiasts and especially for hang-gliders who can soar between sea and mountains. Mont-St-Pierre also provides many hiking and mountain biking trails.
Facing the village is an interesting bay for diving and windsurfing. One can also fish from the village's wharf.
Mont-St-Pierre is also one of the starting points for excursions to Mt. Jacques-Cartier in the Parc de la Gaspésie. Mt. Jacques-Cartier is the highest peak (1268 m) in southern Canada and provides a home for the last caribou herd south of the St. Lawrence River.
