Barachois is located at the far end of the bay at the northern tip of a 10-km sand bar. This sandbar was formed through the years by the accumulation of sediment from the Malbaie, Beattie, Portage and Murphy rivers whose currents meet the opposite currents of the ocean. Right beside the railroad bridge, take route du Coteau. There you will see many lovely houses and you will also get an excellent view of the bay and the sand bar.
