Description Pictures
This lovely little village founded in 1861 is located on the higher terrain on the south side of the Saint-Jean River estuary. It was named after an English surveyor, John Douglas. The English government had given him the task of planning a model village for the Loyalists.

Vacationers who relish peace and quiet will prefer the beach at Douglastown. A little further east you will come upon a rest area at Seal Cove, a fishing harbor at L'Anse-a-Brillant and finally a goat farm.
