The name of this village was probably inspired by a young French noble called Bonfils who supposedly lived here at the time of colonization. It seems that a lot of mystery surrounded his birth and that he resembled King Louis XIV. Was he the king's twin brother? L'Anse-a-Beaufils has a small fishing harbor. North of the harbor is a historical building: the store of the Robin Company dating back to 1928.
