Before the English conquest of 1758, Pabos was an important fishing centre. A 60-year decline followed. In 1819, there were only 35 inhabitants left. Later, several Irish families settle here. When the municipality is founded in 1876, it covered the whole area comprised in the Pabos seigneury, that is from Pabos Mills to Petit Pabos.
Pabos is a quiet village situated between two cities (Grande-Riviere and Chandler). Its population has doubled in the last 20 years. At the recreation park, you will find a horse-racing track and a golf practice area. In winter, cross-country skiing trails abound.
