Pabos Mills became independant from Pabos in 1952. At that time its economy was based on the forest and fishing industries. It also used to be an important religious and economic administrative centre in the Gaspésie. Economy is centered on the tourist industry. Grand Pabos River is popular for salmon fishing, animal watching and for the observation of plants. There is also an outdoors centre, an interpretation centre and beaches.
