Description Pictures
According to historians, French establishments were destroyed three times by the English at this place. In the 11th century, the Vikings supposedly established a post there and the first white woman in Canada would have been Freydis, Erik the Red's illegitimate sister.

Peninsule is adjacent to Forillon National Park. Many animal species coexist here. Curiously, we also find a fortress equipped with cannons. It was built during the Second World War in order to protect from German vessels the ships of the HMCS Fort Ramsey based on the other side of the Bay of Gaspe at Sandy Beach. In 1942, an anti-submarine net was set up between the two shores. Learn more about this intriguing story by reading the self-guiding panels on the site.
