Description Pictures
Amqui, founded in 1881, is a strategic location in the Matapedia Valley, being at the meeting point of the Humqui and Matapedia rivers. Amqui comes from the Micmac amqui, also spelled humqui, ankwi and unkoui meaning "where one has fun".

Amqui has everything for the demanding vacationer. Once on location, have fun mountain biking, hiking, salmon fishing, golfing and hang-gliding. Water sports are also very popular on the Matapedia Lake.

Visit the Anse-Saint-Jean covered bridge, part of the cultural heritage.

Amqui is an important service centre offering restaurants, hotels, motels, campgrounds and more.
