| At the beginning of the 20th century, Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue was extensively exploiting its forest to provide ties (wood pieces supporting rails) for the construction of the railroad leading to Gaspe. Today, Padoue is a quiet hamlet with some dairy producers and cattle breeders.
