| Father Alexis Mailloux inspired the name of the village founded in 1870. Acadians were the first to settle here around 1860 and therefore contributed to make it one of the oldest villages in the Valley. While visiting Saint-Alexis-de-Matapedia, make sure to go to Horizon de Rêve viewpoint. A breathtaking view of Ristigouche River awaits you. There are also many hiking and biking trails. The winter season provides many hours of cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling in numerous trails.
